Following cries from thousands of distressed website owners and webmasters wishing to rectify consequences of their bad link building campaigns… Google have now released a powerful disavow link tool. Since the April Google Penguin update was launched thousands of websites have been heavily penalized. Badly or excessively created links can now be “Disavowed” distancing them from the optimized website and its domain therefore cleaning up the overall website seo and linking structure.
Google Disavow Tool
GREAT NEWS!! Or is it? It’s not quite as simple as it sounds.
If you have had warning messages from Google regarding your link building activities they will have provided you with a direct link. Otherwise log into your webmaster tools and search for disavow links or click disavow link tool.
When you do manage to find it and download it you will find it extremely effective and easy to use however the first thing that you will need is a list of all the bad links to disavow.
So how do you get these? Well you could either speak to your SEO company that built you the bad links to get the list or you could try to manually search yourself using the link: command.
Type “link: yourcompany.com” into Google (excluding exclamation marks) to find a list of all indexed links. However you will not be able to know which are good and which are bad.
It is a great idea by Google to launch their link disavow tool as suffering and desperate webmasters will effectively be cleaning up the net manually of spammy links for them for free. Naturally more care will be taken by the business owner to pinpoint the offending links and not the good ones hence aiding Google’s algorithm. No doubt Google will be using the collected information also for its next update. We shall have to see.
Regardless of Googles intentions it is a much cried for solution by suffering companies who have been hit by Google Penguin and Google Panda updates. As soon as we have feedback we will update you on how it all pans out.
We hope this has been helpful to you. If you have any questions post them on this blog and I will do my best to get back to you with the answers.
